Newman is a rescue pug that did not pass the vet inspection to be sold in a pet store and I found out about him through my Mother and adopted him at 4 months of age. He is the first dog I have trained competitively for AKC. Newman retired from competition with one leg toward his Open Obedience title and one leg towards his Open Agility title to his credit. Newman has always been known for his speed in agility and has beaten Border Collies and Golden Retreivers. Throughout his career Newmie was ranked nationally among pugs in AKC agility. Newman is also trained in canine freestyle and has entertained audiences at the Sioux Falls Community Playhouse, the Sioux Falls Canaries Baseball stadium and the Sioux Falls Shrine Mosque. Newman's freestyle moves enabled him to win a trick contest earning a year's supply of dog food. My other dog, a sheltie named Lad, performs freestyle and is actively showing in obedience and agility but Newman is always the dog people remember me by and steals the show every time. Like most pugs, he is exuberantly friendly and loves to play with children and other dogs. He is also a "Mama's boy" who loves nothing more than to cuddle with me. Newman's huge heart and great desire to please has enabled him to overcome his physical disabilities and pain throughout his life and I just thank God for such a special dog and pray that I can care for him and keep him as healthy and comfortable as possible for as long as I can.
